Nursery Manager

The FOY Nursery is located within Landsdale Farm, Evandale Road, Darch and has a small but dedicated staff of volunteers. FOY are seeking a volunteer with knowledge and experience in native plant propagation and care, to guide the team of regular volunteers.

The time commitment is flexible with an estimated requirement of 2-3 hours per week (depending on season), on the manager’s preferred day.

Regular volunteers currently attend the Nursery on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Volunteering at the Nursery is easygoing, fun and rewarding.

The FOY nursery’s main function is to propagate WA native plants from a list specified by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions of species which are endemic to the area from Lake Joondalup to Lake Goollelal, and nurture these plants to maturity so they can be planted within the park.

The nursery manager would also:

  • Manage the cleanliness of the Nursery to prevent soil contamination and weed spread,
  • Liaise with the FOY site managers to determine the following years plant requirements,
  • Determine the future soil, seed, and fertiliser requirements of the Nursery.
